GCI Alumni Endorse Olamide Adeniji for Oyo NUJ Secretary Ahead of December 9 Election

The Government College Ibadan (GCI) Old Boys Association has formally endorsed Mr. Olamide Adeniji for the position of Secretary of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the forthcoming election scheduled for Tuesday, December 9.

In a press statement issued by the Chairman of the 1995 Set of the GCI Alumni Association, Mr. Shotonwa Adedolapo described Mr. Adeniji as “a man of honour, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the growth of journalism in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.” He emphasized that Mr. Adeniji’s contributions to journalism and information management “cannot be overstated.”

According to Mr. Shotonwa, Mr. Adeniji’s career as an Information Officer in the Oyo State Civil Service has been marked by excellence, professionalism, and a consistent commitment to public enlightenment. “He has played a critical role in ensuring clarity, accuracy, and timely interpretation of government policies across various ministries and agencies,” he noted. “His work has strengthened public trust, enhanced access to reliable information, and provided citizens with timely opportunities and insights.”

Beyond his civil service responsibilities, Mr. Adeniji is the publisher of Oyo News, a rapidly growing online news platform that has significantly amplified the voice of Oyo State on the national and global stage. Through Oyo News, he has promoted businesses, showcased individual achievements, and delivered credible, balanced reportage on current affairs. His platform has become a vital information bridge between the government and the people, projecting the state’s progress beyond its borders.

Mr. Shotonwa urged members of the Oyo NUJ to support Mr. Adeniji’s candidacy, describing him as “a credible, competent, and forward-thinking professional whose experience will bring meaningful progress to the Union.” He added that Mr. Adeniji’s track record of service, organizational skills, and commitment to journalistic excellence make him exceptionally suited for the role of Secretary.
