Governor Seyi Makinde Commends Hon. Lanre Sarumi for donating convenience buildings to Poly Ibadan.

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has commended the Ibadan North House of Representative candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded election, Hon. Lanre Sarumi over the donation of units of convince buildings to the student of the polytechnic Ibadan. Engr. Seyi Makinde stated this in his goodwill message at the commissioning ceremony on Friday.

Governor Seyi Makinde who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abiodun Oni, commended Hon. Lanre Sarumi for keeping up to his promises in meeting the needs of the students of the institution. He noted that this will not only make life easier for students but also complements the government’s effort in its bid to end open detection in the State.

In his remark, the Hon. Commissioner for Education who was represented by the Director of Higher Learning and Continous Study, Mr. Adewale thanked Hon. Lanre Sarumi for contributing so much to the ease of the students of poly Ibadan. He calls on well-meaning Nigerians, especially the well-to-do in our society to emulate the kindness of Hon. Lanre Sarumi in contributing to our educational sector.

While expressing their excitement over the project, the immediate past president of the Faculty of Environmental Studies, Comrade Anyasi Glory Favour described the project as a lifesaver. She recounted how it has been difficult for the students, especially the female students to ease themselves during the late-hour lectures. She narrated how some of the female students have been molested and how some will have to abandon lectures out of nature call.

She thanked Hon. Lanre Sarumi for coming to their rescue. In her words “we reached out to Hon. Lanre Sarumi last year after so many years of our convenience challenge and today, to the glory of God, words can not express our gratitude to Hon. Lanre. This is a great relief for our students.”

In his response, Hon Lanre Sarumi dedicated the success of the project to God. In his words “firstly, we give God all the glory for the privilege to make this happen, it is not from the excess of our pocket but out of priority and commitment to our people”

He explained that the motivation behind the initiative was not to curry any political goodwill but a desire to contribute his quota to meeting societal needs.

In his appreciation, the Rector of Polytechnic Ibadan, who was represented by the school’s Registrar Mrs. Modupe Theresa Fawale, and the Dean of Faculty of Environmental Studies, Esv. Olusola T Elegbede commended Hon. Lanre Sarumi for building public conveniences for the students and promises to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
