Osun State witnessed a vibrant celebration on May 27th as the Special Assistant to the Governor, Hon. Olaniyi Akinloye, organized a remarkable Children’s Day event in Gbongan. The occasion, themed “Importance of Financial Intelligence for Children,” aimed to commemorate Children’s Day while instilling the value of saving among youngsters.
The event drew a sizable crowd, including thousands of children, their parents, community leaders, and dignitaries. Against the backdrop of Gbongan’s scenic surroundings, attendees gathered to participate in activities designed to promote financial literacy among the youth.



During the event, children were enlightened on the significance of saving and financial intelligence. They were urged to prioritize education and shun negative influences, with emphasis placed on nurturing aspirations for a prosperous future.
In his address, Hon. Akinloye reiterated the purpose behind the celebration, emphasizing the need to empower young minds with financial knowledge. He remarked, “We are not just telling them to save, but we are also teaching them what they can do to make money and not spend it all.” He highlighted the impact of the initiative, revealing that over a thousand students were benefiting from the project’s endeavors.
As part of the festivities, piggy banks were distributed to secondary school pupils, encouraging them to cultivate the habit of saving from a tender age. Additionally, educational materials were generously provided to all attendees, underscoring the event’s commitment to holistic development.



The culmination of the celebration featured music, dance, and engaging games, much to the delight of the children. Exciting prizes were awarded, adding to the festive atmosphere and leaving lasting memories for all present.
In a show of appreciation, The Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi, lauded Hon. Akinloye for organizing such an impactful and enjoyable program. He commended Akinloye’s dedication to community development, noting his exemplary service as a testament to effective governance. The monarch also extended gratitude to Governor Adeleke for entrusting Akinloye with the responsibility to serve the people, underscoring the collective commitment to progress and prosperity.
