The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has recorded another significant exit as Hon. Wale Ajani, a prominent party chieftain and longtime loyalist of Governor Seyi Makinde, formally resigned his membership of the party.

Ajani, who previously served as Director General of the Oyo State Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja, communicated his decision in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ward 6, Ona-Ara Local Government Area. In the letter, he cited growing uncertainty, persistent internal crises, and unresolved factional struggles within the party at both state and national levels as reasons for his departure.
According to Ajani, the continued reliance on caretaker arrangements and what he described as a weakening of internal democracy have made it increasingly difficult for committed members to pursue meaningful political engagement within the party. While appreciating the opportunities and support he received during his time in the PDP, he noted that the party’s current trajectory no longer aligns with his political ideals and aspirations.

His resignation comes amid a noticeable wave of political movement within the ruling party in Oyo State, a development that many observers see as more than routine defections. Rather, the trend is being interpreted as a strong political statement ahead of the approaching election year, signaling deeper realignments within the state’s political landscape.
Ajani hinted at future political engagement outside the PDP, stating that he intends to participate more actively in the evolving political space, with details of his next steps to be announced in due course.

As preparations gradually intensify toward the next general elections, Ajani’s exit further underscores the shifting dynamics within the PDP in Oyo State and raises fresh questions about party unity, internal cohesion, and strategic positioning in the months ahead.
